I built my home with structurally insulated panels (SIPs), and let me tell you, they absolutely deliver on insulation. I live in an area with both freezing winters and sweltering summers, and my energy costs dropped almost 50% in the first year. SIPs have a dense foam core between two layers of OSB (oriented strand board), which makes for a highly insulated wall. Not only does it regulate temperature, but it also provides a good sound barrier.
